In order to avoid walking around in circles, an artist has to search for new working methods, as opposed to the classical approaches that create schools, currents, trends and lead only to dead ends.
By documenting and borrowing natural processes, and observing how the dynamics of topography are artificially influenced by the ways city officials deal with the problem of snow accumulation in urban environments, Norbert Costin proposes something akin to molecular gastronomy instead of traditional cuisine.
We find ourselves below the “snow line”, the demarcation line of the place where everything is stable and frozen in time. The reliefs, objects, drawings created through the processes of accumulation, evaporation, stratification, by the action of time and under the influence of temperature changes will unfold in this exhibition like residues of a holy trinity comprised of nature-society-individual.
