Gesturing toward solitude
At the crossroads of epochs, Redeeming the Time is a clarion call to awareness and a serendipitous discovery of a secret approach to technological development optimized for human future. Designed as a soul-centred program of participatory exhibitions, it offers insight into our intuitive relationship with nature through the sacred symbols and universal myths encrypted within Saxon fortified Churches, Romanian and German carpentry and magic Gypsy rituals from a timeless corner, hidden beyond the sinuous Carpathian forests. This historical setting becomes the stage for carefully curated artworks by established and emerging artists, each contributing in contemporary technological, environmental and wellness developments. The ensuing narrative immerses participants into a visceral phantasmagoria of a digital future nurtured by the most profound human values.
Gesturing towards Solitude is a pilot group exhibition curated by Carmen Casiuc, advancing the mission of Redeeming the Time through the subject of solitary contemplative practices. The works of Andreea Badea, Daniel Gaciu, Traian Chereches, Nikita Dembrinski , Alexandra Sand, Ioana Sisea, Mara Ploscaru, Jared Marks, Laura Covaci and AGF HYDRA approach this matter from an artistic, philosophical and psychoanalytical perspective, each reflecting on the relationship between gestures, behaviours and the emotional regulation of one’s own internal world. Feelings of loneliness brought about by technological developments pervade our lives and the artists play an essential role in questioning the phenomena that influence the personal or collective sense of self.
